Aranese gastronomy
Traditional dishes and products of the Aran Valley.
In the Aran Valley you can not only enjoy its wonderful natural environment and its excellent conditions for the practice of any type of mountain sport such as skiing, snowboarding, trecking, hiking, etc.
You can also taste its typical regional cuisine, consisting of native dishes among which the well-known Aranese pot stands out, a delicious traditional stew.
The climatic conditions of the Aran Valley and its fauna have directly influenced its most typical cuisine, making it a reference in the area.
Blunt dishes to cope with the cold such as soups or stews of birds and game are most common in the diet of the region. Without forgetting, of course, the Aranese pot.
This reference dish in the traditional cuisine of the Aran Valley consists of a stew consisting generally of different meats and sausages (chicken, veal, bacon, sausage and ham bones), vegetables (carrots, potatoes, cabbage, leek, onions and celery) , white beans and noodles.
This dish is also completed with some meat balls consisting of minced meat, egg, garlic, breadcrumbs, parsley, milk, salt and pepper. An exquisite dish perfect after a hard day in the snow or practicing mountain sports.
